By funding research, supporting families, and powering events we move closer to a cure for cystic fibrosis – so no family faces CF alone without hope.
We fund research, support families, and power events that move us closer to a cure for Cystic Fibrosis—so no family has to face CF alone.
Advance the Cure is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation focused on driving progress toward a cure for Cystic Fibrosis and improving quality of life for individuals and families affected.
Founded by the Jack family, Advance the Cure was born from a refusal to accept “no cure” as the final answer. What began as a personal mission quickly evolved into a growing movement—uniting researchers, supporters, and communities committed to making a real and lasting impact.
Through funding research and community-driven fundraising events—such as Catch the Cure and Fly Fishing Film Fest—we transform passion into progress and awareness into action.
Everything we do is rooted in the belief that progress is possible—and that together, we can change the future of Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis is a life-threatening disease that affects approximately 40,000 children and adults in the US. CF damages the respiratory and digestive system by producing thick sticky mucus resulting in life threatening lung disease and liver disease. Median life expectancy is 65 years for a CF patient born today. The CF Foundation is rapidly developing life-extending medications and diligently searching for a cure.
People with CF inherit the defective gene that causes a buildup of thick sticky mucus in the lungs, pancreas, liver, and other organs. When mucus clogs the lungs it can be very difficult to breathe. The thick mucus also traps bacteria in the airways which results in infections and inflammation leading to lung damage and eventually respiratory failure.
Every dollar raised fuels research, education, and tangible impact for those affected by CF—today and tomorrow.
Tucker’s story represents thousands of individuals living with Cystic Fibrosis and the progress that’s possible when research, advocacy, and community come together.
Tucker was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis in 2008, prior to birth, through genetic testing. For his family, the diagnosis came before they ever held him—bringing fear, uncertainty, and countless questions about what his future might hold.
From the very beginning, life with CF meant daily breathing treatments, frequent medical appointments, and learning how to manage a complex disease. Like many families affected by Cystic Fibrosis, Tucker’s family quickly learned that care, consistency, and community would be essential.
Thanks to significant advances in CF research and modern treatments—made possible by continued funding and advocacy—Tucker is living a fuller, healthier life today. While Cystic Fibrosis is still part of his journey, today’s therapies have transformed what was once an uncertain future into one filled with possibilities.
Tucker’s progress is living proof that research changes lives. It reminds us why advancing the cure for Cystic Fibrosis is so important—and why we must keep going until no family ever receives this diagnosis again. We pray and trust in God every day that CF stands for “Cure Found”.
100% of Advance the Cure net proceeds are donated directly to funding the cure to Cystic Fibrosis and other uncurable diseases. Your donation directly fuels research, supports families, and drives progress toward a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Together, we can turn stories like Tucker’s into the norm—not the exception.
